The interventions dedicated to the children of Barranquilla and Cartagena. The manager Ambrosin meets the representatives of the No Indifference Onlus association.
A shelter for young victims of mistreatment and a social center to protect girls who have suffered family violence. These are the two structures visited in recent days by Massimo Ambrosin, manager of the Municipality of Jesolo for the tourism sector, who is responsible for organizing the Jesolo Sand Nativity, during a trip to Colombia organized on a personal basis and without any cost to the Municipality.
The trip was an opportunity to see firsthand the important activity carried out in recent years in the South American country by the No Indifference Onlus association also through the funds raised thanks to visitors to the famous sand nativity scene.
The two structures
In fact, a part of the Jesolo Sand Nativity's charitable contributions was allocated in past years to No Indifference Onlus. The association used them to contribute to the creation of a shelter for children aged 4 to 15 who are victims of violence and abuse in the district of Barranquilla. The building, connected to the "Una Luz de Esperanza" project, hosts more than 140 children. On 19 April 2022, the first floor was made accessible and operational with a canteen, multiple spaces, services, a small chapel, a kitchen, a room for manual activities and toilets. The following year work began on the construction of the second floor with classrooms and dormitories for the children.
The second supported project concerns the construction of the "La Maria" social center, in the metropolis of Cartagena. The structure is dedicated to the recovery and protection of girls who are subject to or at serious risk of family and street violence. In this place the girls find hot meals, literacy, comfort and a path to integration into social life.
