Francesco e il lupo - Susanne Marguerite Ruseler - Jesolo Sand Nativity

The Saint Francis edition ends

The exhibition dedicated to the life of the "Poverello" of Assisi was visited by 140 thousand people.

The curtain falls on the Jesolo Sand Nativity. The famous sand nativity scene of Jesolo closed its doors to the public yesterday after 2 months in which thousands of people crossed its threshold to admire the sculptures that made up “In the footsteps of Francis of Assisi”.

The twenty-first edition of the Jesolo Sand Nativity was in fact dedicated to the story of the life and works of the "Poverello" of Assisi, exactly 800 years after the creation of the first nativity scene in history in Greccio. The exhibition closed with the traditional toast between the administration, the representatives of Jesolo Patrimonio, the volunteers involved during the two months in managing the entrances and the sale of merchandise and all the people who allowed - once again - the good success of the event.

The exhibition confirmed its great success and from the day of its inauguration, which took place on 2 December in the presence of Fra Marco Moroni, father custodian of the Sacred Convent of Assisi, it welcomed 140,000 visitors. Among them, people from every region of Italy as evidenced by the many messages of appreciation left in the visitors' book. But thanks to the concomitant karate Youth League, which took place from 7 to 10 December 2023 at the Palazzo del Turismo, the sculptures of the Jesolo Sand Nativity also went around the world through the young athletes who came to the city with their families from the 6 continents.

“Once again the Jesolo Sand Nativity confirms its success with the public and for the administration, as well as for all the people who in various capacities were involved in the event, it is a great satisfaction because it means having managed to maintain a high level of quality of a consolidated event, known and awaited by visitors from all over Italy. Thanks to important promotional work, we managed to attract a large audience from the Austrian and German areas, strengthening the bond with these guests – declared the tourism councilor Alberto Maschio -. At the same time, almost all visitors left a contribution based on their possibilities and this will allow us once again to help those in need in our area and then even further afield".
