The edition dedicated to interreligious dialogue closed yesterday. 140 thousand visitors registered and donations for over 110 thousand euros.
The curtain falls on the Jesolo Sand Nativity. The famous sand nativity scene of Jesolo closed its doors to the public yesterday after 2 months in which thousands of people crossed its threshold to admire the sculptures that made up “Fratelli tutti”. The 22nd edition of the Jesolo Sand Nativity was in fact dedicated to interreligious dialogue and was inaugurated on November 29 in the presence of the auxiliary bishop and vicar general emeritus of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, Monsignor Giacinto-Boulos Marcuzzo. The exhibition closed with the traditional toast between the administration, the representatives of Jesolo Patrimonio, the volunteers involved during the two months in managing the entrances and the sale of merchandise and all the people who allowed – once again – the success of the event.
The exhibition has confirmed its great success and since the day of its inauguration it has welcomed 140,000 visitors. A particularly significant figure is the one related to the collection of funds for charity, coming from the free donations of visitors and from the sale of merchandise, which this year exceeded the figure of 110,000 euros marking a historical record. Since 2002, the year of the first edition, the Jesolo Sand Nativity has been visited by over 1 million and 600,000 people, raising more than 1 million euros, to support charity projects all over the world and local voluntary associations.
“Jesolo Sand Nativity once again confirms itself as a central event of the holiday season, contributing significantly to fueling tourist flows in the colder months and a great tool for conveying important messages such as, in this case, those of peace and interreligious dialogue – declared tourism councilor Alberto Maschio -. We have tried to communicate more about the importance of donations thanks to which we are able to support so many important initiatives every year, and we have managed to reach people. We are already working on the next edition which will have a great novelty in store”.
